Smart Query

A Smart Query is a query based on dynamic or calculated search criteria. Smart queries are preconfigured and allow users the ability to run quick queries with specific parameters to extract data from the system.


Smart Field

Data stored on individual records for quick access to specific information that would otherwise take multiple queries to determine; Important for marketing effort because ask ladders are generated from smart fields; Examples: Consecutive years of giving; Total household giving in a certain fiscal year.


Selection

A selection is an output of a group of records that have one or more parameters in common. A selection is created by running a query. Selections are the building blocks used to create segments.


Segment

A segment is composed of one or multiple selections in order to filter records into specific, targeted groups. Packages may be assigned to a segment, and that segment, or group of segments is added to a mailing.  Segments allow for metrics analysis.


Seeds

Seeds are individuals who will receive marketing materials from your organization.  An organization might place staff on its seeds list to monitor mail delivery dates, along with the quality in which the mailing was received.  Additionally, seeds will monitor that vendors followed instructions from the point of sign off to generate the mailing including fields inside the letter, premiums, etc. Seeds are individuals who would not pull into the segments otherwise. They are excluded from reporting/tracking.


Securities Gift

Gifts of real estate or securities held long term are deductible for federal income tax purposes at the full fair market value with no capital gain on the appreciation. However, the appreciation is a tax preference item and proper counsel should be obtained to evaluate whether this would have alternative minimum tax consequences.


Secondary Solicitor (Plan)

Involved with qualification or cultivation activities but not necessarily part of the solicitation. Researchers can serve as secondary solicitors on prospects they have discovered and assigned.


Secondary Plan Solicitor

Involved with cultivation activities but not necessarily part of the solicitation.


Secondary Plan Manager

Assists in plan and directly involved in plan. May complete steps if his/her name is listed as the step owner. A secondary plan manager is located on the prospect plan. The secondary manager is an additional manger for the plan that would have higher responsibility than a secondary solicitor.

Assists in plan and directly involved in plan. May complete steps if his/her name is listed as the step owner.
